So Memorial Day was eye opening.
I don't come from a military/police family so... suffice to say, I'm fairly ignorant of what Memorial Day was REALLY about.
Well, I got a photojournalism assignment with the Oceanside Post and photographed the local Veterans Association of North County's Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony. Not only was it a very serious affair, it was inspiring to see the multiple generations the military/naval/etc have influenced and the pride that ran through all of them.
In regards to the photos - it's been A WHILE since I went on assignment for photos. (I usually do video.) So I was rusty. The color temps are a little off and the stage was a little strangely lit (the speakers were well lit but the stage... where most of the action happened... dark). But I did the best I could and looked for moments of emotion, sincerity and love.
Yes, yes. Getting too cheesy. But I enjoyed it.

Just kidding. I don't have a staff writer. Yet.
